Found this in my spare parts box, haven't a clue what it is. The needle is reversible, the tips on each end of the needle are different. This thing clamps onto something as the upper part with the large screw is adjustable and moves a plate in the middle for clamping. Thanks

It's part of a beam compass. Nothing to do with Phonographs..
