OK, I Know this may be a dumb question (I always get this confused) but here it goes: 2 minute black Indestructible Cylinders can be played on which machines with what type of stylus ??

C Reproducer on any machine. Columbia 2 minute machines. I am sure there are more the guys will chime in.

In short, any cylinder phonograph that is capable of playing 2 minute cylinders with a sapphire or diamond stylus provided the stylus (and reproducer) is in good functioning condition. I've never had a problem with wear or injury using an Edison Diamond B reproducer with horizontal carriage on any phonograph in my collection playing any of my 2 minute Indestructible cylinders and I have thousands of them.

I just wanted to add a little comment on this topic. We are so very lucky to live in a time where so much information is available for free or for a small investment in books. Having a resource like the one in George's quote from the APS website is astounding. This hobby is made so much better by access to knowledgeable people and written articles such as was shown here. I can't imagine how anyone ever got along before the time when this information was available. And this forum plays a big role in all of this as well. Thanks to all the experts out there!

And another "Amen" from me. I've learned a lot from this forum, and after rearranging my phonograph books yesterday, I'm astounded with the number of helpful sources that have appeared over the past 20 years. Until Bob Baumbach wrote Look for the Dog (okay - that one came out in 1981), we were being told that the Victrola IV was the first Victrola! (It's in Tinfoil to Stereo, so it must be true...) Before Frow, our knowledge of Edison, cylinder or discs, was pretty basic. Dethlefson introduced us to Diamond Discs, and the Sherman/Copeland book answers almost any question about them a collector might have. Then there are the discographies from Mainspring Press... Where to stop?

We are truly blessed with a vast amount of information that wasn't available when many of us started out. And I'm happy to report that the Antique Phonograph Society is working on a web-based archive that will put even more resources at our fingertips. Announcements to follow this year...
