What the heck!

As some of you may know from another thread I am in the processing of assembling original parts to restore a Victor II humpback. I am now down to the tone arm and back bracket assembly. I thought perhaps the problem was solved because a very nice setup showed up on eBay early in the week. The auction just closed at $860 dollars, which seems to me to be beyond nuts! Nice fully complete Vic IIs have been bringing $1,100 or $1,200 and not long ago a similar assembly, granted not nearly as nice, went for under $200.

Don't worry. I believe these will soon show up separately on the eBay store of a guy who is familiar to us all. He will at least double his money. This has happened to me a number of times, on eBay or at live auctions.

It was already the breakup of what looked to be a pretty decent humpback. He got $835 for the base cabinet, motor and turntable and $202.50 for the horn elbow.
As for the back bracket/tone arm assembly it looks to me like some competitive people got in a bidding war and common sense went out the window.
