Deutche Grammophon question

Does anyone know which model this gramophone is. It is made by Deutche Grammophon. I know that the horn is unoriginal. I am grateful for any help.

Isn't it the Senior Monarch that was displayed at grammofonmuseum.no? Why are you in doubt that it is a Senior Monarch?

By the way I also own one unit. The collar of the bracket on mine is different, though, and also the horn is different.

"Monarch II" of around 1908.

Back bracket, tone arm and elbow are wrong also.

Gentle Starkton, do you have some images scanned from period advertisements, catalogues or user's manuals to post, perhaps? I also have never seen this specific model treated on books or elsewhere, and would like very much to know more. Thank you.

Just something different - here the Monarch II used in conjunction with an advert for a home voice recorder attachment.

From Deutsche Grammophon A.G. catalogue of April 1908:

Nice ad, but this is very probably no D.G.A.G. Monarch II. We have collected some information about "HESK" on the German forum: http://grammophon-platten.de/e107_plugi ... .php?35686

With your consent I will post your ad there. Can you please give me the source?

Wow, thanks a lot! :) That's a very good image, and I've searched for it high and low! Do you know if perhaps the full catalogue from which it has been extracted is available for download (or for sale, as original) somewhere? I would really like to have it side by side with the gramophone.

I suspect that there should also be a wooden graven border, that seems to be missing, over the lower floreal border that surrounds the base. Of course I'm not sure, perhaps it is just a variant in my unit. But it is visible (although barely) in the catalogue image; and also I seem to see that the shellac looks very crude in the corresponding area of 78monarch's unit. Perhaps it is missing indeed.

The border you show belongs to a slightly earlier version of the "Monarch II", see the drawing from the catalogue of July 1907 below.

You can get a reprint of the July 1907 catalogue here: http://www.sprechapparate.de/
