I am familiar with the spring and pins arrangement that holds a tone arm in a Victor III back bracket. Are the same bits used on a Victor II humpback, or if not, what will I need. And who might be the best source for them?

The Vic. II uses a single pin with coil spring under it (inside the bracket). I'm sure Ron can make you one or has them.

What is the purpose of the little horizontal pin? Does it slightly reduce friction if the tone arm rests and pivots on the shoulder of the pin instead of the point of the pin? Years ago I made a pin out of an appropriate piece of stock and it seemed to work fine. Thanks, Jerry Blais

This type of support pin found on earlier Victors works the same as the later straight pin type. The horizontal pin does not touch the tone arm. I've always believed the purpose of the horizontal pin was to make it easier to push the support pin down when removing the tone arm. It was probably discontinued to cut production cost.
