Nice recording Bob, especially the 4th of July Patrol. How where they reproduced here? Original equipment? What kind of phono, reproducers if so? Thanks, Bruce

Thanks for the comments, Bruce. The blue amberol was recorded using a handmade pickup by John Petty, back in the 1980's I think. Here is a link to an article explaining more, including design variations. My pickup is the one on the blue countertop.

I used a well-running amberola 50 machine and ran the pickup lead directly to a digital recorder. The WAVE file was then run through the Diamond Cut DC 7 noise-reduction program.

The Victor recording was taken directly off an Edison C2 electic pickup lead using a regular soft tone steel needle.

Thanks alot Bob,

If you happen to have it, and given that 4th of July is just aroung the corner, please consider posting the Blue Amberol version of "Stars and Stripes Forever" by Sousa's band. I'm sure other's would enjoy it.

I don't have an electric pickup setup for cylinders but this song played on my Amb 1B, (with a well tuned reproducer) is crystal clear and rattles windows!

A great tune on any day of the year! Lot's of bang for the buck there with a 4 min BA. I bet those piccolo and trombone players were tired after that one.

Today (7/4) I'm playing through a stack of marches. Mostly Victor bat wings, played on a horn machine with a loud tone needle.
