This piece belonged to my Dad and I would like to sell it. I don't know much about it, but he played it for me about 20 years ago, so I assume it still works. I also have several records that will go with it. I am located in Riverside/San Diego CA area and would appreciate any inquiries or information on this phonograph. Thank you.

OK, to evaluate: you have a model B Triumph, with a 2/4 minute upgrade (do you have the H reproducer as well as the C?); apparently in complete mechanical condition (have you tried to play it lately? The C will not play 4 minute records like the Blue Amberol pictured); case is intact, but with slightly distressed finish (at least on the front); upper works have about 40% striping; has a Cygnet bracket, but a straight horn.

The main criteria for value in antiques are Rarity, Desirability, and Condition. Triumphs are not extremely rare, but they are rather desirable (at least within the cylinder phonograph collecting community). This example is in average / decent unrestored condition. The market is, unfortunately, a bit depressed for the more common machines.

Determining value is a tricky thing: it depends on what buyers are willing to pay. If you are going to auction it off, perhaps you should start with a low figure, and let the market determine the final price.
