An Edison 40 minute LP side (30001-R) played on an Edisonic!

Post by pughphonos »

This appears to be a You Tube first: I've posted my Schubert Edisonic playing an entire side (20 minutes) of a 40 minute Edison Long Play record (30001). The camera missed the first few seconds, but after that the entire side is there.

I recorded this to show that an Edison machine in good condition, with the Long Play gearing and reproducer--and with a double spring motor--can run though such a record just fine!

The only moment of concern was at the ca. 7:00 minute mark, when the reproducer hit a stripped groove--but the feed screw driving the reproducer eventually pulled it past. Usually I would lift the reproducer over that problem area, but I elected to be entirely "hands off" for this recording.

OK, I went back to my You Tube site and see that the link provided has changed; the one above is now correct. Thanks for checking!

Works now, and I appreciate your effort, but DO wish the lid had been closed and the microphone moved out in front of the horn a few feet. The surface noise and tinny reproducer feedback is rather brutal.

Edison I am not. ;) My camera tends to do that feedback no matter what. As I move forward I might improve in equipment and technique; we'll see.
