I will be in the Houston/Austin Texas area for a few days in March. Are there any recommended places to visit related to phonographs?
Thanks,

1) Vintage Sounds in Houston. http://www.vintagesoundshouston.com/
You should contact them to see which days they are there - most probably Friday and Saturday.

2) Kurt Nauck in Spring, Texas just north of Houston. http://www.78rpm.com

Does Nauck’s have a public shop?

We do have a facility open to collectors by appointment only. Visitors are free to browse the books and products available in our Resource Catalog, and they are also welcome to examine or listen to auction lots under the supervision of one of our staff members. Records may also be available for purchase.

You could always come to Albany, Oregon. We're only about a quarter of a tank north and a little west of Texas. Jerry Blais

Just took a gander at the Vintage Sounds website. A grand for a back-of-the-bus Model A Home with a repro horn??? I bet they'd ask 50 grand for a Type K Graphophone!

Good God. $995 for a drugstore Standard. Well, I can only applaud their optimism.

Hey, I live in SE Texas and was watching this link to see if anyone had any suggestions. It seems that if you live on either coast, your phonograph selection is far greater and prices appear to be much better. Maybe this is just "the grass is always greener" point of view, but I don't think so. There is however an Edison Museum in Beaumont. It is really small but interesting. Of course, I'm sure it can't hold a candle to "The Edison Museum"
That being said, if you are looking for phonographs, they are where you find them and you never know where something interesting will show up.

This is by Dallas, Mount Pleasant. They have some real nice stuff. The curator is a member here.
