GEM MODEL C

I just got this little Gem with out a reproducer. I stuck one in it just to hold the horn, but what reproducer would it have came with? A regular fish tail C? I haven't got to hear it play, it was all dirty and things wouldn't turn easily. I now have it all cleaned up and just need the correct reproducer. Here's a couple pictures.

Scarce machine, very nice! A normal C reproducer is what you need.

Thanks Rene and Martin. I had been looking for a model C for a pretty long time. They are a little hard to find at a good price. I paid a little less than 400.00 for this one and couldn't pay fast enough. It has a repro horn on it, but I have an original on its way. I also have a 2'4 minute conversion that I may put on this one. I think it will play through a 4 minute cylinder OK. This was the last Gem I needed. Now I have them all, well maybe I should say I have the A,B,C and D.

I have a Model C 2/4 min. Gem. It does play a 4 min. cylinder all the way through. I think the Gem C, D, & E have a more robust motor than the earlier ones. You might as well go all out and get yourself a K reproducer. That is what I have on my Model C Gem.

Nice looking machine - Gem's are my favorite, I display 5 of them easily on my bookshelf along with the Columbia Q's. Love the Maroon and drip pan Gems.....

Rich,
I have never seen a E. Please post a picture if you get it.
Brian,
I like the Gems also. I have a B that's the loudest phonograph I own. I put the reproducer in another machine and it's not the same. It's just that little Gem.

Hi Ronnie, here is a picture of a Model-E Gem with the N reproducer. The Model-E is a 4-minute only machine. Photo from Edison Cylinder Phonograph Companion by Frow.

So it's just a D with the 2 minute gear blocked off? I guess the carrige would be larger also to accommodate the N reproducer?
