Warping records

Any thoughts about storing records --vertically or horizontally and which warps more single-sided or double-sided? I just started going through some 6" Emerson records (Emerson 6" records are single-sided), that I had stored vertically and was surprised at the warping. Most likely happened during the summer heat. Thanks for your input, especially on the single-sided vs double-sided possibilities. I am assuming single-sided would warp more due to the fact that the grooves on a double-sided record add strength to the disc.

I have always been told that storing vertically is the way to go. But you have to keep them upright, and not leaning against each other. I even read that you have to turn them a quarter every year to prevent sagging. But I only have a couple of one-sided discs (no Emersons), so perhaps that makes a difference? Maybe they have a different shellac composition, and are softer?
