Will young people ever like old music?

Sometimes we think that the younger generation will never hear or appreciate the old music we collect. Here's a video of a B. A. Rolfe electric DD being played on a Schubert Edisonic that may prove us wrong!

Children like what they are positively exposed to as they are growing up. I always had vintage music playing, and I also have a player piano where my children and I could gather around and sing these songs from the 1920's. Children can't develop a taste for music they have never been exposed to. The video is charming.

The girl seems just as interested in the camera and the big white bunny rabbit she's holding as much as the record.
The real test will be if she still likes B.A. Rolfe at age 16. Little kids like lots of kinds of music.

I know what you mean, however, consider this, compared to the age of the music you're referring to, we're all "young people". So, my answer is yes. None of us were around when this music was new and at least some of us like it. You've just got to be exposed to it. If a young person doesn't hear it, how can they like it?

I am a young person myself (17) and I like this kind of music immensely. Of course this is irregular and uncommon for a young person to like early Jazz, but I know that there are others out there like me.

It is good to know that young people like Steve like the old music.

I second Steve's claim! I am 19 and I really love old music. My favorite being 1920's and 1930's African-American jazz/blues.

Ahh, the details of her joy need no history lesson.
These are just the sounds heard in her home, and she will carry them with her as she ages.
I did the same with Greek Music.
I liked it. I disliked it. I like it again. It was part of the soundtrack of my life.
And now I associate the sound with fond memories of my Dad.
James.

Young guy here, have loved this older music since I was about 8-9 years old. I'm 19 now, and have three machines and enough records that I don't know the exact number in my collection.

Agreed. Anything you can dance to will find devotees.
