Well, I'm one step closer to acquiring a complete set of Columbia Grand machines.
I recently found my seventh Grand, this first model HG, serial# 491 at a local auction.

When I got it the carriage was frozen on the shaft as the sleeve was the only pot metal part on the machine.
I had an early brass sleeve in my parts bin so after some pre-conditioning with a torch and some rubber mallet persuasion I
was able to get the old sleeve off the shaft and install the brass sleeve.

The motor spent an hour in the ultrasonic cleaner to dislodge the 100 year old dried grease in the springs and gears.

Now on to find that elusive GG

Congratulations, Chuck. A complete set of Columbia Grands is a great sub-set to a collection, and not easily attained. Good luck with the GG! :)
