Hi, I hope someone can use this early original funnel horn. This is early as it has the early style hanger on it. 26 ½" long, approx 13" diameter. It was missing the end but I had a vintage loose end here that I soldered on, and yes it goes on the outside of the horn. That is why they are often missing. There is some paint loss towards the narrow end. A reasonable example, fairly priced $125. I can deliver to Wayne NJ Show in April, or I am glad to ship it for you. I came across a small antique co-op shop in northern New Jersey that has 5-6 medium to very large talking machine horns - all pretty decent brass / black with the usual creases & dents but most of the small ends were really chewed up so I passed. They all had their hangers intact and two were very large. The shop wanted $75.00 each for them. They were all stacked together in one corner .....

This is actually a very desirable, and early horn. They were available in the late 1890's for cylinder machines. Collectors today mistake them for a recording horn, which they are not. This horn was meant to amplify sound. I've attached a couple images from an 1898 Columbia catalog depicting this horn.

Its at a very reasonable price as well!!

Would this work OK for recording?

For what it's worth, this isn't a Columbia horn. Columbia bought its horns from Hawthorne & Sheble in the early years.
