Here are a few videos from the collection of YouTube videos that I’ve done with John...

First, the “Liberty Bell March”, John’s most-viewed video:

and “American Fantasie” (2 sides) by Victor Herbert:

I thought that we had a few more particularly patriotic songs, but apparently I’m mistaken, unless we want to count songs that extol the virtues of particular parts of the country. :D

However, as a bonus, I’ll include Margaret Woodrow Wilson’s rendition of “My Old Kentucky Home”:

[youtubehq]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GtbKMrSbL4k[/youtubehq]
For anyone who was not aware, she was the daughter of President Woodrow Wilson, and Wikipedia offers her performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner”. According to his video comments, he believes that a pressing of her version of “My Old Kentucky Home” with a special label was sold to raise money for the Red Cross during the World War.

Hopefully everyone had a happy and safe Independence Day (for those who celebrate the U.S. observance of it), and you didn’t accidentally blow up any phonographs or records with your fireworks. :D

LOL, thanks G-Shane...

Separately, I remember as a kid growing up watching Yankee Doodle Dandy as a kid every year on July 4. I think it's sad today because I don't know if they still play it or if kids today know any George M. Cohan songs. Here's the 1942 trailer. People just aren't patriotic like this anymore.

I also found this recording (not my video) of "Over there" performed by Caruso singing in English. I think it sounds kind of strange, but hey, it still is Caruso.

EDIT: Does anyone know what language the second time through is in? He certainly sounds a lot more confident and smooth the second time through.

Yup, the second verse is done in Italian, I believe, followed by a verse in French.

According to the label, the first verse is English & the second is French, but no mention of Italian.

Damn Shane! You're right of course. I wasn't home to check the disc and was going on my (rather dim, apparently) memory. I haven't played Caruso's "Over There" in some time. My original post said English and French and I second guessed myself, went back and added Italian.

Oops, thanks for catching my error!
