Hand Operated...Apparently missing its mandrel...

The Reproducer arm is somewhat Edison-esc...

It could be some kind of Expermental off-beat European model..

Edison-Bell models usually had a id plate somewhere...

Definitely Interesting! Looks to be Circa 1880's....

Try finding parts for that one!

I just found it on "A world of antique phonograph" (Thanks to Timothy Fabrizio and George Paul!).
It's a phonograph made in France by Alphonse Darras.

I wish it were. I simply googled the name Alphonse Darras, then did an image search. This would be a fairly straightforward restoration with primarily lathe work.

Damn, it's a thing of beauty. I may bid on it. Easy resto. Look at this. Like spinning jewelry! But is that an Edison reproducer??

No!

Have a look at the reproducer it is static..........which means, the missing pieces are quite complicated pieces of engineering, containing feed-screw and a bunch of other technology to move the mandrel appropriately. There are a few other bits missing as well so brave is the person who buys this in the hope of getting it working. There is a lot of work to do, and very few people with one and probably zero who will want to risk to disassemble their piece so someone can replicate it.
