Introducing The TMF Label Gallery & Guide

John and I are proud to introduce the newest TMF project—The TMF Label Gallery & Guide.

I am currently adding the labels that John scanned for it, and it currently needs a few CSS fixes for IE6¹ and the iPhone’s version of Safari (although these issues are quite minor and should not distract from its use).

John will be starting threads today to discuss the labels, share information about them for use to create descriptions and help date the labels, and so you can share labels that we do not have on that site. I will be continuing to add labels and improve the gallery as this week continues.

When scanning labels, please aim for at least 800 x 800 pixel images.

If you have any suggestions for improving the gallery or additional features that you’d like to see, please let me know.

¹ If you are still using it at home, you desperately need to download and switch to Firefox, Opera, Safari or Google’s Chrome—not only is IE severely broken, it is also horribly insecure and the main vector for viruses on Windows.

Thanks! Only 406 more images to go...

After I manage some sleep (and probably after I get home from work), I’ll be adding ‘last updated’ time stamps to the pages there, as well as more of the images.

A thing of beauty and a joy forever! What a labor of love. I look forward to contributing to the gallery . . . wish I had access to my records now! Thank you John and David. This is an invaluable resource and shall become even more so as we flesh it out. How exciting!

Only 406 to go! No there are far far far more than that out there waiting to be scanned! I think you will be busy for a long long time on this but it is a great project and I'm looking forward to watching it progress.

An absolutely great idea! I'll post scans the next days, hopefully I'll get to that soon.

Folks,

As you now can see-even though I have been away-I have not been idle. It is my fervent hope that we can build the largest most expansive on-line label gallery ever, free to all. This will be a group effort-I hope everyone can contribute something. As we progress I plan to add a list of contributors in the credits so that everyone who use this resource will know WE built it, not me, not David, but all of us. There is still so much to do and I haven't filled out my "credit section" because all of you have been my inspiration for this. Your support through all the nonsense, your faith, your common sense and courtesy has kept me going. THANK YOU-ALL OF YOU!

Regards,
John

Rocky,

Thank you on both counts. I certainly hope we can make a grand splash with the Gallery. I have a few other ideas percolating as well....

Regards,
J.
