Lets Organize The Labels: Cameo

Folks,
Why don't we start with an easy one.

I know I'm missing at least the very first label design. Can we come up with dates-even approximate dates for each design? The first one I have up
(CAMEO) dates from 1922 I believe. By the middle of '22 the second label replaced it. Either by the late '22 or early '23 the third design-sans shield was in use, this lasted until 1928 when it was replaced by the first design with a white section for the credits. That label was altered in '29 I believe.
Where there any special labels issued by Cameo? Does anyone have a copy of the very first label design? Are my dates on target? Can anyone give more specific dates for the changes?
Thank You.
Regards,
John

John,
I have Cameo No. 202 with Irving Kaufman singing "Georgia Rose" and "Weep No More My Mammy." This would undoubtedly be the first Cameo label, as Cameo started with No. 200.

Rocky,
Excellent! I think that might wrap up Cameo for us other thank a few more minor printing varieties. Now we just need to find a way to get a scan of it.

John,
The earliest Cameo I have is no. 220 and it has a label which, as far as I can see, is identical to the first one in your gallery, so if there was an earlier one it was only used for 19 issues at the most.

Fredrik,
How are you? Well I hope. As far as we've been able to determine Cameo did have one very short-lived label design before the red stripe design. I'm very behind in my research on the various labels, but I have come up with a few leads for various labels.

John

Thanks John,
I'm well. The reason for my absence has simply been lack of time. Early this year I realized I had to either invent a 14-day week with 48-hour days or simply cut out some of my activeties if I were not to go mad from stress, and one of the things I decieded was to temporarily leave all the various message boards I was involved in.

Fredrik,
Time is the one thing we never seem to have a surplus of, isn't it.

I had an early Cameo label in my collection some years ago,
which was in black and gold, and very plain---the word Cameo
with no border, and as I remember it, no little cameo above,
either. Unfortunately, I no longer have it.

By Chance are you the Bob Ault that had a radio show in St. Louis years ago on KFUO?
