Looks like a decent A-290. I think the glass drawer knob has been replaced with something else. Can't really see it in the pic well enough.

Wow, wouldn't I love this...too bad it's on the whole other side of the continent! (As usual, it seems, lol)

Same here. About 3,000 miles away. A handsome case with the inlay.

My daughter lives about 3 miles from it. I'm debating whether or not to go check it out. The price is way to high (I think), but it would look nice next to my B 275. Maybe I'll just tell the wife that I miss my daughter, but "since we're here" we might as well go take a look.

I would be very reluctant to say that the price is "way too high." This was a high-end machine selling for $290 in 1912, about $7,000 in current dollars, and I would be surprised if they were made in any real volume. A real collector's piece.

Thanks Clay... Now you really have me thinking about driving up to look at it. Seems like a lot to me, but you've put it into perspective..... In good working order and with a decent cabinet, what would you consider a fair price? Hmmmmmmm Decisions, decisions...

According to Frow, only 167 were sold. That calculates to a mere 0.00047% of the more than 356,000 Diamond Disc phonographs which Edison produced in total. This is a rare machine, worth a few multiples of the asking price.
