eBay auction already finished for a rare and pristine Bix disc.

Is this a record high price? It's the highest I've ever seen.

Must be a rare collection completer. I love to listen to Bix but collecting his rareties, no, except for those which I really, really like.

This sellers collection is world renowned. He also paid the record price for a 78....$37,100 on Ebay for a pristine copy of Tommy Johnson's "Alcohol & Jake Blues" on Paramount. One of only two known copies and he (I believe) owns them both now.
Here is his rough copy...

I am a dyed in the wool Bixian, but WOW, that is the highest price I have seen on an issued Bix recording! Great record, but I'll just listen to it on CD and save my pennies!

Did any of you see the recording I did. Many thanks to Marilene McCandless and the Avati brothers for allowing us to do these recordings in Bix's childhood home in Davenport, Iowa. I would like to try it again with improved blanks and the Edison studio recorder. Interesting how the record went for a nice price, those who appreciate good music, will pay a nice price for it.

Andy Schumm - cornet
Dave bock - trombone
John Otto - clarinet
David Boeddinghaus - piano
Leah Bezin - banjo
Beau Sample - string bass
Josh Duffee - cymbal

In the UK Bix can be found on Parlophone reissues which are neither rare nor expensive. It is the recording, not the label, which matters to me.

Glad to see Traditional Jazz is regaining it's value. I was a little surprised to see the Test Pressings sell as low as they dis, though. The unpredictable world of eBay
