Well friends, now that I have sold off nearly all the orthophonic records anyone was willing to purchase reasonably I have put my long time friend, the Credenza on Ebay. Its a fine walnut machine with the brass original reproducer. Cabinet is great as well. It has one flaw and that is some tears in the grill cloth, which was an unfortunate accident of a house cat I once had, long story, she never bothered a thing till this happened and it was accidental if a cat can do accidental things.

hopefully it isn't going the route of so many such deals, to that recyclable4u fellow who just parts such things out for resale.

Hadn't looked here for a bit. It ended up going to a fellow who lives in Southern Indiana about 75 miles from me most likely. He said his grandfather lived in the area where this machine came from originally in St. Louis and had owned a Credenza, some of the records from his collection he still has. That made it a item he was very interested in. Hopefully it will have a good home, I think that is the out come.. Yes I had the thought too that someone might buy it and switch the reproducer for a pot metal one and sell it at Union.. that could have happened since we have easy access to Union from here. He is picking it up the end of the month, will be interesting to meet the new owner.

Oddly a Cecilian melophonic is showing up at an auction here this weekend. I have never seen one except one that showed up on the group site a few weeks ago. I was hoping to find a small orthophonic era machine that took up less space to play a few remaining records on, it may be of interest. Unfortunately it won't do much for my down sizing campaign. So much for collecting.

The new owner of the Credenza came today and it was very interesting.. A young man just out of college who had been on a cross country trip to celebrate. He is on his way home to the next state. As much as I had mixed feelings the fact that someone who was a fan of victrolas at such a young age as I had been was quite gratifying. Perhaps it will spend another life with its owner now! Like me he has collected since he was a young teen. Maybe there is a new generation for these after all. One reason he was drawn to mine was that his Grandfather had lived in the area this one came from and it was the same model. He looked it over very carefully, I could almost feel he was wondering if his grandfather might have owned it at one time.. I can sleep well tonight even though its moved on.
