I have original blank plates which came from the estate of F. O. Buffington of the Philadelphia Name Plate and Engraving Company, the firm which made the plates for Victor. They are the 1906-1912 style and are perfect. The only ones that I have left are unfinished, etched but no plating or black background, and of course blank areas for model and serial number.
These are much better than, say Cecil Dancer's reproduction plates, for his were copies and were cast. These are original.

I have an original ID tag for a later Victor D that shared the same case as a Victor V if interested.

It never ceases to amaze me how the members of this forum try to be of help to fellow members. I probably had at least 3 other viable avenues to follow had I not be lucky enough to find the original.
Here is a pic of the plate after I compounded it down to brass, shot it with black lacquer, sanded the high spots with 400 and plated it with my cheap little plater setup.
Wish I took a before pic, could hardly even see the name Victor it was so corroded..
STill a couple small scratches but after 3 hours, I'm done with it..
I figure the plates a lot older them me and I have plenty of scratches or are they wrinkles??
Thanks again for everyone's input.
