Another Interesting Mistake On Edison Blue Amberol Cylinder

Look closely at the word 'COUNTRY" in the title of this Edison Blue Amberol from my collection.

You can clearly see that the word was originally pressed incorrectly spelled as 'COUNTRIE' and someone caught the mistake.

Instead of pressing a new master with the correct spelling someone decided to try their hand at removing the 'IE' and replacing it with 'Y' but you can easily see the 'I' still remaining and the 'E' is very light but still present.

FUNNY STUFF! These little mistakes on record labels and cylinder titles are always fun to find!

Talk about immortality, albeit anonymous. I wonder how many of my mistakes will be discussed 100 years from now.

I had a co-worker that frequently said, "Don't worry about it - in a hundred years no one will know or care".

This inspired me to take a look at my small collection (about 3 dozen Blue Amberols), and I was surprised to find I had one!
On my copy of BA 2104 "Stars and Stripes Forever March" by Sousa's Band, it is instead misspelled "SOUS'AS BAND."

I have attached a picture, though I apologize for the quality. All I had handy was my cell phone camera.

Was all the information on the cylinder rim hand engraved, or was there a method to typeset it?

Nathan

Awesome! Thanks for sharing this. That is definitely a glaring title mistake that someone should have caught at the factory. :o
