Here we see an ad for the New Indestructible Reproducer.
Introduced in 1907, the Indestructible record was made of celluloid, with a thick cardboard inner core and metal rings at either end of the record. To play these records, the Indestructible Phonograph Company manufactured their own reproducer. It was advertised as being distinctive for three reasons: the wedge-shaped sapphire, the spring tension, and the new diaphragm. They even went as far to say “the wedge-shaped genuine sapphire will destroy wax records.” Which as many of us collectors, who were once newbies, will sheepishly attest to.
This reproducer is in excellent condition and sounds wonderfully. It really does make an indestructible record sound better than when it is played with a regular C reproducer. The stylus is sound and it works wonderfully. A joy to play.
