Hi guys,
How do you remove the gear circled in the attached photo. I guess you'd call it gear #1. This is just a photo from the web, but the gear on my standard has been completely mashed in times past. I guess something must have gotten caught in it.

If the small gear is made of brass, then I would say that it was press-fit onto the shaft and might be hard to remove without deliberately destroying it. The Standard was the most common model of Edison cylinder phonograph and it should not be hard or expensive finding a complete replacement of that assembly of shaft and two gears. I sometimes see complete gear clusters sold on eBay. Lots of junkers have been parted out.

Rather than try to re-invent the wheel and blow your head up at the same time, Just replace the entire double gear assembly..by unscrewing the motor cover and removing the old one and replacing it with a good gear assembly. Mark should have it. Just e-mail him the picture you posted here, and he'll probably charge you $30-$40 for the whole gear setup.
Just tell him what type and Model Standard you own...Example: Suitcase, Model A, Model B, Model C, etc.
