Newbie here!

Hi Everyone

Not sure if this is the correct place to post, but I have just joined. I have the case only of, what I think is a Victor D, which was my grandfather's. It was tossed out on the farm rubbish pile in the 1950's and my dad (who liked old stuff) scooped it up and carried it off - deciding that the case was too pretty to burn up in a rubbish fire!
Unfortunately, he did not save the innards and the horn was missing years prior too.

I have a collection of pre-WW2 HMV radios and radiograms I have collected for years, and a large collection of early '78's. I think it would be nice to get this machine running again.

Shall I post some photos and measurements so that I can get your help to, firstly, identify the machine correctly, and secondly, set about to finding the neccesary bits?
Please let me know.

Much appreciated,
Kind regards,
Mark Jerling

Welcome Mr. Jerling!

You've come to the right place. There is a HUGE wealth of knowledge here, and it's very generously shared!

About all I can offer you is a contact there in New Zealand, with whom my father used to correspond quite regularly. (I'm don't even know if he's on this forum!?) I'll PM you when I get is info...

Thank you Don and Michael for your welcomes.
I'll post photos of the machine's case as soon as I have a chance to do so. (With measurements, of course)

Kind regards,
Mark

Welcome to the forum. I don't imagine that there are too many phonograph collectors in New Zealand, but if you can connect with any they might be able to help you obtain the parts you need. There are lots of parts available on Ebay, but the shipping cost might be hard to accept. The people on this forum have been very helpful to me so post your pictures and good luck! :)

Welcome Mark. We have a few Kiwi members on here. Also a few Australians.

If you haven't yet noticed, our forum also offers a section for machines of UK/Euro origin and a section for buying and selling called the Yankee Trader.

Once you post pics of your machine, I'm sure members will chime in to help with your wants.

We have a lot of helpful and knowledgeable members on here.

Hi Mark, we share the same name! Have you come across Henry Shields, in Carterton? I think. I live in Clive between Napier and Hastings.I have a HMV Monarch Senior G@T with Oak spear tip horn. The cabinet is the same that of a model D Victor, fancy scroll work. Does not have HMV logo though. Instead G@T transfer on cabinet. Had everything replated in Auckland. They did a magnificent job! Off to the Union Phonograph Show in June. Got some good mates over in the US. Mark Dawson
