Victor Double License Sticker Oddity

The Credenza is going out for some structural repairs today and I finally got to really look at the license sticker on the bottom.

It appears there are two of them! The one on top has a July 22, 1926 production date, but my machine is an 8-30X serial number 24810, which puts it sometimes in 1927. I'm assuming this means the one on the bottom is wrong.

Who knows what happened here? This seems quite strange

Usually when you see something like this, It usually means that the decal below it was most likely incorrect for another type model machine applied by accident, and someone caught the error and applied the correct decal over it.. Just a theory here..

Also, the date on the license sticker would be the form date, not the date of production. Very cool detail!

I think Tony hit the mark. I bet there's a spring driven sticker underneath. Someone realized the error and applied the VE sticker over the first. Jerry

Thanks for all the replies! And the clarification of the purpose of the date.
