Absolutely dandy machine! (Should be a 'Featured Phono'! Is the owner on the forum?)

That's a wow! Thank you for posting this.

It's interesting the data tag reads "Opera." I would have thought it would have a special "School" designation. Since these machines were manufactured beyond the cancellation date of every other Edison external horn product, I suppose later ones were designated "Concert"?

Best wishes, Mark

I've been keeping a database of all known examples of the Edison School Phonograph, with 35 recorded to date. All have 'Opera' tags, none are known with the 'Concert' designation.

that is interesting to know, René, thank you. It's too bad there are not more of these around, though I suppose the low sales ensured that these stayed below the radar of the U-S Phonograph Company.

Best wishes, Mark

This is my machine. It is really an amazing example. With the cardboard boxes it really is rare, plus all of the extras. I hope someone will choose to take of it for several years. After all, in this hobby we really are caretakers of the past for future generations...
Please share the link with other collectors.

Rene, was this number in your database previously?

I hope I'm not asking a dumb question, but did these machines a lid like the Opera and Concert? Since the case is metal, I'm guessing the lid should be metal.

I did have this in my database already. I've known of this one for years.

These machines never had lids.

Several years ago someone was making replacement boxes for the Edison School machine. Does anyone have that person's contact information? Thanks, Jerry Blais
