I am wondering what the sound quality is like using an Edisonic reproducer to play electrical recordings on a Edison B-19?

I recently purchased one on the forum.

I'd bet it will sound pretty great! It'll certainly be louder.

I use an Edisonic on my B 19 all the time with great results with electrics and later acoustics. Not bad at all with the smaller horn.

I recollect seeing a video not too long ago of a B-19 with a Dance reproducer, playing an electric DD; the sound was quite impressive.

The Edisonic reproducer arrived which I purchased in the Yankee Trader. I could not believe the difference this reproducer makes compared to the standard on the later 51000 and 52000 series records. Very excited about this reproducer, no bouncing out of groove like the standard reproducer. This reproducer really brings out some of the instruments and has alot of volume. I think Edison gave Victor a run for the money on this one, although I think the Victor Orthophonic is most likely overall superior to the Edisonic.

It would be nice if an Orthophonic horn could be fitted to an Edison Disc mechanism. THAT would REALLY be impressive!

I like the idea that the Edisonic reproducers are potentially 14 years younger than most others that were produced. That in and of itself could explain why many folks find they sound superior; not to mention they were potentially used the least of all previously manufactured Disc reproducers, given the end of Edison's Phonograph manufacturing was already creeping in.

I have to believe that after so many years of development and refinement, that TAE, Inc. undoubtedly got it right.

I agree that it seems he finally got it right. While Edison and Victor were completely different systems, I think that the Edisonic came very close to Orthophonic sound. I think Edison had already put out a great product, so there was not that much to refine anyways.

when I bought my unsold Beethoven from the descendants of the Edison dealer who kept it with NOS records and other Edison memorabilia, it came with a 78 rpm record adapter. I already had a Fletcher, which is an acoustic era type reproducer with mica diaphragm. But this new adapter is a Oro-Phonic Military No. 90 made by the Oro-Tone company. When I put it on my Beethoven and put on a Victor scroll record, the sound was great. The Oro-Phonic is a reproducer made with an aluminum diaphragm and gives the Victor Orthophonic a run for its money.
