The Talking Machine Forum — For All Antique Phonographs & Recordings

Hello all, I recently got an Edison Disc Phonograph S 19. Always wanted a wind up phonograph. After looking at it more closely to understand it, I noticed a few things that needs to be done to it to get it to work.

- The repoducer is missing the silk cord to the stylus, which the seller informed me of.
- The vertical tube to the horn assembly, both upper and lower mount are no longer welded to the horn, they are bolted on, though not in the exact location as the welds. The comb piece on the horn that meshes into the gear with the motor is missing from the horn as well, I think I've seen it referred as the comb. I have yet to see the comb piece being sold online.

Is it a better to get another horn that is complete or re-weld what I have and look for the comb piece? Though it doesn't appear to be screwed in.

If getting a replacement horn, which other models could fit? I think I read that the C150 is similar. Are there any other models?

The motor winds up fine and the table spins fine, though a little noisy, seems like it has to do with the governor.

After I get these pieces taken care of, then I can get some Edison records Little did I know only Edison records can be played on it, without an adapter...

I'll be going through Post Falls on my way home from Union. If someone has the Diamond Disc horn parts at little or no cost, I will deliver them for no cost. Anyone???

You might have better luck by placing a wanted ad in the Trader Section of the Forum. (Be sure to read the guidelines first)

The S-19 and all but the earliest BC-34s used the same size horn as the C-150. As both are fairly common models, you should be able to find a horn assembly without too much difficulty.
