I was doing an inventory of my Victrola VV -50s listing serial numbers and one did not seem to fit or cross on the victor site. It also does not have an ID plate. The S/N is 034956. no plate but it is on the id under the platter. The crank hole is on the side by the handle not the front so it is a newer one. I have a couple of pics. Thanks

That is an odd one. The ones I saw has the ID tag with Nipper. Not a decal and this small plate. Could it be Canadian or for the export market?

A five has sneeked into your serial number. The number in your photo is 03496, not 034956. The Victor Data Book shows that number being in the first run of machines in the third quarter of 1921. The license sticker date shows us that it is probably not earlier that March 15, 1923. The Victrola decal, I associate with the early Orthophonics of 1925.
***Hold the phone!***
Upon re-reading the Victor Data Book description of the Victrola 50 type C (first shipped Nov. 28, 1923) there is a note that states: "Parts list indicates that a portion of this group is numbered 0501 - 011500."
Your number would fit in neatly there. It would fit much better with your machine having the attributes of a very late VV-50. Odd to say the least. You have a very cool machine.
