Pathé Portable

Does anyone have a Pathéphone portable (weighs a ton)like this in their collection? I need some info on it. Thanks and cheers

I love the woodwork on that the scratch lines are particularly pleasing

Yes I could not resist this machine when I saw it. Was hoping someone else has one of these so I can see how the reproducer is secured when it is being transported. Plays and sounds great. Hopefully I can find a picture somewhere on the net or here. Anyway have a good weekend. Cheers

Dear Bill,
They are laughingly refered to as "portable" but being made of oak and iron they do indeed weigh a ton but I suppose if you could afford a machine like this then you could afford to employ some poor bloke to carry it for you.As you rightky say, they do play surprisingly well although my motor does struggle a bit towards the end with a 12 inch centre-start disc.
As to the arrangements of the carrying clips inside the lid, the best I can come up with is shown below. This seems to work when it is being carried and everything is reasonably secure. The positioning of the clips does not seem to be logical but then, that's Pathé for you.

I noticed that only 3 spring clips are required which I am missing of course. I did find a supplier of all kinds of these clips, unfortunately the clips are packaged for retail 
I also noted from the photo that the lid support is made of oak, I have a metal lid support but those little squares down the right top which accommodate the wood support are present but well hidden.
Again thanks for that photo. I shall begin searching the globe for these metal clips. Cheers
