I was looking through some DD's that I recently rescued from being chewed by an antique shop's VV-IX, and found these. I have heard that fox trots and the like are the more wanted Edison records. Are these discs anything special? Here are the titles:
Disc 1: Side L. Virginia Blues -Broadway Dance Orchestra, Side R. Cutie-Medley -Harry Raderman's Jazz Orchestra
Disc 2: Side L. Bringin' Home The Bacon -Kaplan's Melodists and Vernon Dalhart, Side R. Paradise Alley -Harry Raderman's Dance Orchestra

Disc 3: Side L. It Had To Be You -Harry Raderman's Dance Orchestra, Side R. Mandalay -Harry Raderman's Dance Orchestra

I cannot determine the quality of the sound yet as I have not purchased a DD machine yet, but am buying one this summer, it's a C-150 if I remember right. Any input on these is welcome.

Those are all decent selections of the time.. Many collectors find them too dated or not exciting enough to bother with but personally I enjoy most music no matter the type of music..

Thanks for the info, I know next to nothing about DD's, I just couldn't bear to see them get shredded by that Victrola, plus they were very cheap.

Thanks for riding to the rescue. I hope you find that they were not too damaged when you get your DD machine and can play them. Although generally milder versions than on some other labels, I like some of the 20s jazz on DDs.

"Bringin' Home the Bacon" is a nice side: Dalhart could sing other things than weepy country ballads. ;)

Dalhart was a conservatory trained singer.

Famous 78 collector Joe Bussard calls his "Vermin Dogfart." Probably in reference to all those weepy country sides that litter the 1920's 78 stacks.

I knew a fellow who referred to his Vernon Dalhart collection as his "Case of VD"
