Hi All,
I have a Radiola 28-Borgia II of about 1927 vintage that played fine about ten years ago the last time I played it. Today, I tried to play it and it slowed a bunch when I lowered the reproducer to play a record. I removed the turn table and I do not see an obvious place to oil it. I received this unit as a gift some 40 or more years ago and previously the motor and amplifier worked fine except for the jumpy potentiometers that adjust volume and filament temperature.
I removed the back panel and again do not see a place to oil the motor. Does any one have any helpful input for me regarding the motor?

If the motor is not gummed up from dried grease then you probably have an open coil.

Doesn't the back of a newer version of 'Look For The Dog' have that lubrication chart in the misc. section..??. It's a good book to get if you don't have one Allen.. .

Check for continuity in the circuits. Sometimes the connectors become oxidized, which can be cured by disassembly and cleaning the connections. Sometimes something else will go open, so check continuity on all the coils and the wiring to the coils. Do these checks with power not applied.

Thanks ChuckA, gramophone78, and Startgroove I bought "Looking For The Dog" last night on Amazon. I will likely not get to the motor until we get back from France in June. We were married 15 years ago and we both thought we better go to see Omaha Beach, where uncle Peter landed on D Day, now because at 70 & 77 we may not make it to 20 or 25 years of marriage. We will also be doing a behind the scenes tour of the Eiffel Tower in which I hope to see the steam engine plant that powered the elevators and lights when it was erected.
