I scrounged around the packing box and found all the pieces to the outside of the lid. It took a few days of gluing but it came out OK. I have added a few pics and thanks for the advice Tom

Nice repair, Tom. I'd rather see an all-original machine with a repair than one with a nice replacement case (even if the case has the original finish). Thanks for keeping this one together!

I agree - you'd never know that lid had been repaired unless you were looking for it. Nice job.
I must mention that the horn you picture on the Home needs a crane to support it. A number of bad things can/will happen if that horn is unsupported while the machine is playing.

I'll second that.

the horn is for a radio by Stanley and Paterson deveau It is 18 ½ inches tall but it does not have a place to attach a crane. I picked it up at an estate sale. Can I put a hook on it or should it not be used for the 4 clip.....????? I have a 14 inch and a 30 inch with a crane to use too. but I thought the small horn was cute. Thanks Tom

At first glance, the pictured horn looks like a black Gem horn circa 1907-09. I wouldn't muck up the horn if it's an original radio horn. The 30 inch horn and crane will certainly sound nicer than a small horn, and many, many original owners bought them for their suitcase Homes.

Do I have to notch the case for the top mount of the crane?? The bottom is no problem as the plate just screws on. It is not set up for a crane on the case with a notch in it??? Is there an adapter available to use?? Thanks Tom

Naturally, this depends upon the type crane you're using. Judging by the questions you ask, I'm surmising that you have a 1907 - onward style Edison crane. If so, the suitcase Home is not a good candidate for that type crane. If you have one of these 1907 - onward style Edison cranes, I'd change my recommendation to the 14" black and brass horn.
One of the Tea Tray Company cranes would be a good choice for a suitcase Home.

George I found a rear mount crane that screws onto the back of the case in two different spots one high and one low with two screws on each mount. I do not know the name of the crane. I also have a 18 inch brass and black horn. I have to break the horn out. Does that seem right for the machine??? If so I will mount it and send some pics next week Tom.
