I was so pleased that no one bid on this record I nearly missed.. Its "Manhattan" by the Golden Gate Orchestra.. I have a soft spot for this piece as its one of those Radio Drama themes I can't get out of my head.. Of course on the production they used a very smooth calm version of this music. The record is slightly worn but the video seems to pretty much mask that.

Congratulations on getting a great record. I subscribed to your YouTube channel so I get to enjoy it too. I stopped trying to get Edison records on Ebay, because I can get so many great standard 78 records for the same cost as one Edison. It's tragic that Edison released so few jazz recordings. I sure wish someone would press new hill and dale records.

Yes your right about the cost of many Edisons.. I was sure someone was going to jump in at the last second an prevent me from buying this but somehow they didn't.. Perhaps its not a particularly sought out piece by the group? At any rate its a selection I had wanted.. I think "Your the Cream in My Coffee" is another I would love to have but unless it falls though the cracks I most likely never will. On other labels it might be possible. I think one reason the Edisons are so sought out is that the listening experience on many acoustic standard records leaves something to be desired in many cases where the Edison sounds close to a live performance. Thanks for watching the videos.. I am still and will be for some time redoing as many of the old videos as possible, they are much better with the new equipment and some like this one are new to me and I will add those as I go along.

Great record for sure! Rogers and Hart are the greatest! How come I was not told about this record on Ebay? I'll bet George Gershwin wished he had written it. I just bought another great Golden Gate record, 52075, Miss Annabelle Lee/ When Erastus Plays His Old Kazoo. This record sounds so good, at first I thought "what a great sounding electric DD!". My only complaint: No vocal choruses on songs with GREAT lyrics!

Congratulations! That is a very upbeat recording, I actually saw that record, almost bid on it, I was unfamiliar with this title, and that it falls in the 51000 series. If it were in the "52000" series it may have been a challenge.
There are still alot of great titles in the 51000 series, especially "Charleston", that one commands the money.
