I picked up this machine a about a month ago and just recently finished oiling it and servicing some minor repairs to it, so I thought I would share it with you all on the forum! This B250 was filled with literally all of the original owner's records in near perfect condition. The reproducer is all original, not even rebuilt, and it sounds amazing for it's age. I would venture to say it sounds about 90% as good as the day it was new. I found some real gems inside of it including, "Sister Susie's Sewing Shirts for Soldiers," by Billy Murray, "Pick a Chicken- One Step," by Jaudas' Orchestra, and this recording of "The Little Ford Rambled Right Along," also sung by Billy Murray. I thought I would share a video of this machine and this record playing on it.

A real beauty!

Congratulations for finding quite a beauty. I own an A250 and it sounded pretty good when I bought it. I purchased the True Tone diaphragm from forum member Larryh and right away noticed a big improvement in the sound of all my records. I kept the old diaphragm, but I won't be using it. I enjoyed reading about the fire at the Edison factory which brought about the transition from the A250-B250. You might want to look that up. Did your machine come with an oil can, grease jar and brush? I have a wood holder for it, but it was empty.

One correction I would make to your video explanation, however, is that the differences of the mechanisms between the B 250 (B-Type mechanism) and the A 250 (A-type mechanism), extend well beyond the motor plate finish and pin striping. The mechanisms are vastly different (spring motor and gear assemblies, oil tubes, horns, etc.) and do not share parts, thus they are not interchangeable with each other.

While the cabinets of the two models are outwardly similar, they too have many differences (record storage systems, for example), though perhaps the differences are subtle to the casual observer.

Nice example, and really nice to get all those records in great condition. So many Diamond Discs I run into are badly worn.

The light accessory is really neat. I had not seen that version before.

Thanks for sharing, very nice indeed, it also looks like it was well taken care of over the years, and the record looks in good shape from what I can tell. Amazing sound for a reproducer that has not been rebuilt. Honestly, with the sound that good, I would not be concerned with rebuilding at this point. I would definitely consider getting that light going if its possible.
