Echo-Tone horn

After cleaning my recently acquired Echo-Tone horn it is looking very good. Well, as good as any horn this ugly can possibly look! Personally I find its awkward, visually unbalanced shape to be a big part of its charm. It's so ugly it's beautiful. (Eye of the beholder....) The oxidized finish is like the gunmetal finish on oak Amberolas or very early Opera mandrels.

I like Dave Boruff's two-tone copper/brass Echo-Tone even better. The brass one in George and Tim's book is interesting as well. Does anyone here know of any others? I wonder how many may be left.

It has come out great! Congratulations to an interesting, rare horn. But I agree, a face only a mother can love

I think it's beautiful. And with it's size, it probably gets some nice volume!

Nice Rene. I'm sure there are very few that have survived. Sure is a great space saver. Something you have a lot of.... .
Congrats on the new addition.

It's actually not much of a space saver -- the back of the horn sticks out past the bracket so the machine has to sit that much further forward.

It sounds surprisingly good.

Congratulations, Rene. What a great, oddball horn. If only it didn't require a Victor...! ;)

How does it look turned 180 degrees so it's shooting backwards? As I recall, the ads claimed it could be positioned 360 degrees - something very few horns could do. In fact, I can think of only two other U.S. manufactured horns that could do that. One, relatively common; the other pretty rare. :)

Even uglier, if that's possible. ;) But still very cool.
