The Talking Machine Forum — For All Antique Phonographs & Recordings

This is a really nifty phono for those of us who like gadgets, the Brooks Repeating Phonograph. It is a generic upright with the major exception of having a repeater integrated into the mechanism, which enables it to play the same selection numerous times. This was to enable the party people of the day to keep on dancing.

This model is an upright, in mahogany. It's intact and compete, and it spins and plays and cycles, but I have not fiddled with it enough to fully see how the repeater works. That's half the fun, so I'll leave it to the next owner.

Scrapes and dings, and dirt, but it's all there and pretty hard to come by.

This can be delivered to the CAPS show in LA in August and/or handed off to one of our roving phono colleagues for transportation to Union, etc. It is currently located here with me in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Notice the unusual joinery of the lid- four pieces of curved wood, Brooks was known for building custom boats & this might reflect the skills.
