Maybe this is not the best place for this post but I don't know where else to go to find them. Ebay used to have hundreds upon hundreds for sale but without success I still have yet to find an old one that I seem to have misplaced years ago. Where is another good source for the purchase of cylinder records. Thank you!

Number one would be any of the various phonograph shows around the country. There are always hundreds if not thousands of records there to choose from.

Other ideas: Phonograph auctions - Kurt Nauck's, Stanton's, etc. Local auctions sometimes have machines and records. Antiques fairs sometimes have phonograph items. (The big Brimfield (MA) antiques fair is next week and I always go when I can.) Ebay still has tons of records but they are becoming more overpriced every day.

And of course you could always post to Yankee Trader on this board!

Also new companies such as Edisonia, Wizard, and Vulcan make wonderful new indestructible cylinders. "Victrola Guy" sells recordings on recycled brown wax, and dictation cylinders. I make brown wax Re-creations of Edison and Columiba brown wax. I do not take orders though as cylinders are a hobby, sold on a first come first serve basis on my website, or if I post in the Yankee Trader section. I am sure there are many list members who have duplicates for sale on occasion. I have not gone antiquing in a long time, I did when I was a teenager, and would ask antique mall and shop keepers if they had cylinders. Many times they had them tucked away, not on display as to avoid them getting broken.

You can buy great cylinders from Vulcan, Edisonia and Berlin.

You get the better and rarer titles in practical indestructible form.

Some new cylinders may cost over 50.00 bucks but they are nice and last a long time.

The CLPGS produces resin copies of wax Grand Opera cylinders (see http://www.clpgs.org.uk/masters-series.html). Two new titles are in production at the moment for release in the autumn, these being 'O soave fanciulla' from la Boheme and 'la Mamma morta' from Andrea Chenier, both recorded from wax Amberol Grand Operas.

The idea of the series is to capture wax recordings which are becoming both rare and fragile, such that they can be enjoyed while being played acoustically as they were supposed to be. These records complement the excellent cylinders available from the producers mentioned above.

I broke down and bought all 4 of the currently available cylinders from the CLPGS. They are very nice Opera cylinders and am looking forward to the new releases. These cylinders truly bring alive the many opera recordings on the acoustic machines. My only wish is that the 2 minutes would be made into 2 minutes as they were originally recorded so that they could be easily enjoyed on a 2 minute machine.

There are so many great titles available in resin from Vulcan, Berlin and Edisonia that you may not wish to buy original cylinders.

As the other half of the Masters Series production team to RefSeries: production of two minute cylinders was something that we looked at at the very begining but the cost is exactly the same as for producing a four-minute cylinder. As we didn't then understand the market we opted to produce two two-minute selections one one four-minute (200 tpi)cylinder purely on grounds of economy. As the feedback we are getting suggests that many people would prefer a two-minute selection on one 100tpi cylinder, it is something we will look at doing in the future.
