I don't think this would be suitable for record storage....

I have one exactly like it in oak. Although I have been told it is a sheet music cabinet only because of the back piece, it has never made sense to store sheet music standing up on end. It is much more useful as a record cabinet and I believe that's what it was intended for...

Thanks Curt. I was thinking storing records in this may be
a problem with the weight on the doors. Here I am planning on
getting rid of my stuff and looking at a record cabinet..... I may need help.  Cheers

If the bottoms of the storage areas were flat, it would probably be ok for records, but they look to be at an angle and wouldn't that put a lot of stress on the records towards the front of the doors?

A friend of mine down in Kansas City has a couple of those and his wife really likes them for magazines! They are very nice looking cabinets though.

That basic cabinet was configured for disc records, cylinders, and sheet music. The doors of the sheet music version will handle the weight but are not practical for record storage. It would look nice with a Victor IV on top. Jerry Blais

Thanks for those photos. The seller never responded to my Email so guess its history. I find it virtually impossible to snag anything off CL, especially antique phono related. Lots of outrageously priced machines...... :)
