This part came in a batch of parts a couple of years ago. No idea what it was until last weekend. Who'll be the first to post the correct answer?? :)

I feel like it's some sort of reproducer holder or part of a volume control slide.

It looks like a simple version of one of these:

Horn crane support stabilizer, or whatever it's called.

Reproducer holder was close! I've noticed an extra screw hole in the motor boards of a few orthophonics and never knew what it was for. I recently got a setu manual for an electric 8-35 and there was my mystery part in a diagram answering the question of what the extra hole was for, as well as what my mystery part actually was. I'm sure they were mostly thrown away shortly after delivery.

Matt,

Having owned several Credenzas, I've often wondered about that extra hole too.
Mystery solved!

I'm glad to know I am not the only one who didn't know! That little part had laid around my desk for 2 years and I just couldn't bring myself to toss it out. It didn't look like a phonograph part to me, but it cam in a box of odd parts. Glad I didn't throw it out, now it is in the drawer of my new 8-35x!

I have one of those that was in under the motor of a 7-3 and thought it had something to do with the horn driver for the radio! I couldn't figure out where it went on that thing either. Funny too as it has the owners manual, but I must have missed that part. It makes perfect sense though for shipping one of those things.
