Found the last part for my early Edison Spring Motor!

A few weeks ago I got a call from Tim Fabrizio, he had found the last part I needed to complete my very early Spring Motor machine. The original crank for the machine was long gone, and an original US Phonograph Co crank for this machine is like finding a needle in a haystack! Amazingly, machine and crank met last week and this super early Spring Motor machine is now complete. Thanks Tim!

What's the item behind it? Looks like a compressor or a player for 12 inch cylinders!!!

Very nice Spring Motor and that crank would seem nearly impossible to find. Congratulations! Jerry Blais

Congratulations to the completion of a rare and early machine. Nothing beats the feeling of finally having succeeded in the hunt for the last missing part.

Nice bipolar Dynamo, type S, I'm assuming?

Well this is a bit later than the "Type X" designation as far as I know, it is of that style. It is An Edison General Electric 6 KW. I think the "Type X" designation went away with the transition from The Edison Machine Works to the Edison General Electric around 1889. The pulley is wrong for the machine, more of a placeholder for now.

I had a small 1.5KW as well but traded it fairly recently towards a very rare light bulb, which is my main area of collecting focus.

I had a couple I swapped to a fellow in NYC no longer with us. Do I see a Swan bulb or two, and some Thomson Houston bases?

Heres a better pic of the case. There are early bulbs from Edison, Swan, Lane Fox, Maxim, Sawyer Man, Westinghouse, Heisler, Bernstein, Thomson Houston and more. Bases represented in the case are Edison, Westinghouse, Thomson Houston, Schaefer, Mather, Brush-Swan, Heisler, Bernstein, United States Electric, Siemens-Haslke, Ediswan, Zippernowski. May have missed one or two!
