I picked up this Triumph Model-E today that also came with some extra reproducers and parts. Inside the machine was an envelope with the packing slip, manual, cygnet horn adjusting form, and the recorder still in its box. The one thing that puzzles me is that the packing slip is for this Triumph with the correct serial number but it looks to me to be dated 12/31/1906. My understanding is that the Model-E didn't come out until 1911. Any thoughts about this?

I believe that it indeed 1911 and not 1906. If you will notice there is no "0", and that appears to be a quick sloppy "11".

I worked in legal research and used to search out a lot of deeds, mortgages and liens, and the early indexes used cursive writing (kids today call it hieroglyphics). I have seen and transcribed many of these early documents and have ran into some early sloppy letters and numbers.

Also interesting is that on the packing list it appears the dealer, or someone, tried to change the "1 model C" reproducer to "O". Also the "H reproducer has a line drawn through it.

This appears to indicate that the packing slip was corrected which would make sense as the Model E indeed came with an O reproducer, not with a C & H.

Also I would guess the number on the chassis is 68225 as indicated under the serial number on the paper?

That second number might be the serial number of the O reproducer...

Sorry for delay in responding to your question. Yes the number listed below the serial number on the packing slip is the number on the chassis. It seems to be the almost complete unit as purchased. It consists of the machine Triumph Model-E, Music Master horn, original crane, Model-O reproducer (iron & brass), Model-C reproducer with adapter ring, 2-Min Recorder in original box with the very early style adapter ring, rubber horn connector, packing slip, manual, cygnet horn adjusting form. The only items that were not included were the oil can, bottle of oil, and the brush. You just don't see complete units like this become available very often.

Yea it's really nice when you can prove all those numbers match up. You know it's not been fiddled with and is a great reference.
