Bet that is an early VV-VIII. Here are some photos of #1591.It was bought this spring on Craigslist, a very smooth and agreeable transaction. I bought this because of low serial and That tonearm!

My early Victrola VI has basically the same arrangement. The cast iron neck that comes off the back has a similar rod mounted a similar way and the tone arm swivels on and is supported by this arm. The arm was slightly bent when I got the machine which caused playback issues. Once straightened, the machine plays great. Can you post a picture of the brake on your machine(s). The early VV-VI that I mention has the scissor type brake that was only used for a short period of time, early on.

I also have one of the early VV-VI models (1912 model), which basically has a tone arm and bracket on the same principal as the early VV-VIII. I really like these early models. They show the transition from external to internal horn machines. My VV-VI has a bad governor drive gear (brass),
I was unaware, but George V. actually stocks new ones, and it works great. The early machines use the double cut gears.

Exactly the same brake as the one on my early VV-VI. Must've been short lived.
