Slightly OT -- King of Jazz restoration.

I was just curious if anyone has seen the restored color version of "King of Jazz." I only found out about it a few days ago.

I have King Of Jazz on VHS,but it'll be great to see it restored on DVD.Outstanding!
BTW:A friend of mine loved the color of the piano!

I've seen the restored KING OF JAZZ twice already and it is truly jaw dropping. The picture (with a couple of exceptions) looks like it was photographed yesterday and the color is so vibrant that it almost jumps off the screen. I truly felt like I was seeing it for the first time. This is the first time anyone has seen the film in it's original running time (105 min.) since 1930. Many surprises. Material showing up I never knew existed. The film is still enjoying play dates around the world so I wouldn't be looking for a DVD anytime soon. I'm sure Universal wants to reap as much as it can on theatrical showings before releasing it to the home video market. It will be worth the wait. Screenings in Chicago and Columbus are scheduled later this year. If you live anywhere near these vicinity's, I strongly encourage you to see it.

Thanks for posting this. It looks great!
It has prompted me to contact our restored Fox Theater, asking if the plan to show it.
And, I could not help but sell myself to be included in then event.

Which restored Fox are you near? I'm a big fan of old theaters, including the movie palaces.

This must be one of the earliest, if not the earliest, Technicolor films. It was filmed in the rather uncommon aspect ratio of 1.20:1, IOW 6:5. Most movies from the period are 1.37:1 (approx. 4:3) ratio.
