Is it phonographic?

I started a restoral project on an Edison C150 this weekend and found the below item in the horn compartment. I am wondering if this is phongraph related or something else, like a music or jewelry box?
Thoughts, guesses?

Can't say for sure, but it looks like something from a reed organ or an organette?

Is the inlay brass or some lighter colored wood? Not that this would help me figure out what it is, but I am curious.
At any rate, thanks for sharing. You have to wonder, how on earth did this get inside your Edison?!?

I think the surface was painted, but I didn't look that close. I'll check it out tonight if I get out to the shop.

It appears to be gold stenciling, I think it's off of an organ of some kind.

With that inscription, it's from an early Oldsmobile, right?
