Need help restoring an Edison Chalet base record cabinet

I posted earlier about this and I was sent a nice set of pictures of an original Chalet and the matching base record cabinet. Mine was basically a very beaten up shell and a wreck so these pictures have been really valuable. I did find a Haag record compartment which will be altered so that it will work in the record cabinet. I have a couple of questions for ANYONE who has this record cabinet:
1. How thick is the outside door on the record cabinet? The original is completely missing on mine.
2. The Haag record compartment that I am altering is from a different record cabinet. My sections will accommodate 12 inch records and these have 42 slots. We have to take one of mine apart and cut down the height and the number of slots. I received a really nice set of pictures from a collector on this site. It appears that the cabinet should have 37 record slots according to the pictures. On other sites, I have read 36. Which figure is right? Also, does the Haag section have an opening at the very end to accomodate the folding door hinge? It is a little bit hard to see in the pictures. I am trying to get this done before the weather changes in Minnesota so any fast help on this is greatly appreciated.
