Here are some pictures from the Wayne NJ Mechanical Music Extravaganza on Sunday. There was a light rain in the morning when we were unloading and setting up but it wasn't bad. I thought attendance and sales today were very good today. I would also like to thank all the forum members who made purchases from me. Can't wait for the next show. For those who attend what was your thoughts on the show?

I thought it was a good show - - but I'm not too difficult to please! :)

I saw a number of nice things that seemed to be quite reasonably priced. (This may explain why I brought home two phonographs...) I left early because my wallet was sore, but it looked like a pretty healthy crowd. The parking lot was nearly full - and that was around 9:30am.

Another fine show today. While I would say it wasn't as packed as some I've been to, the crowd volume was pretty consistent and I saw more than one nice machine go out the door. I was quite tempted on a couple of things myself, but only came home with a dozen cylinders and a box of reissue 78s. A pity the next one isn't for another 6 months!

Might be my kaleidoscopic perception, but that music box in the next to last photo seems to have a conical drum?

Yes, seven different ones. I have never seen that type before.

Thanks for sharing. Some day I'd like to attend the event. And, did I spy with my little eye bandleader Vince Giordano in one of the pics? ;)

That's a "Capital Cuff" music box, made in the late 1800's by F. Otto & Sons in New Jersey. It is a unique hybrid cylinder/disk machine, intended to evade Regina's patents. Otto also made Olympia, Criterion and other regular disk music boxes that got him into a patent infringement war with Regina.

The most prized Cuff machine is a double-comb model F, which goes for $25,000 and upwards. Only a few dozen of them were ever made. The one shown is the smaller model A or B and is more readily available.

Nice photos. I noticed a very odd machine based on an Edison Concert, but is Not an Edison Concert, however it looks like it was made by a skilled craftsman, what is the story on that?
