On the early XII, the tonearm is mounted to the cabinet----What about the later version with the fancy fret work----I believe the tonearm is mounted to the horn itself, with a black ring covering the opening in the cabinet. Any information is appreciated. Thanks

On my first style XII the two piece tone arm bracket is mounted to the cabinet behind the motor board. On my later XII the bracket is a different style and it mounts to the cast iron portion on the top of the horn. There's a circular trim piece that mounts around the horn opening I suspect to clean up the appearance. The same tone arm is common to both variations of the XII. I hope this helps. Jerry B.

Thanks Jerry, for sharing that information, funny how they changed the horn casting itself on the two models----I guess most people think it is just a case design that separates the plain and fancier XII's---what were those phonograph makers from New Jersey thinking? Ha Ha
